It’s 05:00 AM, Monday morning.
There are 15 weeks (minus 1) until the October Steam Fest, which is Oct 13th – 20th.
Like I’ve said before in previous posts, I really feel I have a limited amount of time, to make my Indie Game Dev ambition work. This year especially, 2025, is when I want to make a real break from being someone who just talks about Indie Game Dev, to at least having my Indie Game published onto Steam, and hopefully receiving the positive feedback that can enable me to continue.
It isn’t a great start to the week, sleep wise, as I only slept 4hr, but decided it was better to gruel through it today, so that I can help en-train a better sleep schedule, for the coming weeks.
Again, I want to focus the next 2 -3 weeks on effective design work. Game development is quite complex, and having an effective design, can help ease cognitive load, when it comes to development.
There is a lot said about “Design Documents” and whether it’s needed or not. When you first start out trying to develop a game, you might find at first, you actually don’t know what an effective design even is, so what’s the point. You kind of just need to muddle through until you start to develop intuition.
After muddling through and not being very effective for years, I feel spending some time on design, once you have some idea of what you’re doing, is a good idea.
I like this Abe Lincoln quote:
“..Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
Principally, design is meant to aid, accelerate, improve or enable development work, that should be the “object” or result of your design.
I hope this new week, I can remain focused, work hard, design effectively, and have fun ! 🙂
