So! I won’t be entering the February Steamfest.
Unfortunately, I made mistakes about dates and certain requirements before entering, so, I will not be able to enter this coming Steamfest for the game.
But it actually hasn’t really changed my timelines very much, except in respect publicizing and marketing my game.. This area is a complete unknown for me, and I had hoped I’d be able to gain larger initial momentum by entry to the Feb Steamfest.
But actually, I still plan on releasing the demo at that period in late Feb/Early March, and hopefully, then, see what happens, entering the June Steamfest – early release, will be more in this period of time.
In some ways, it relieves some immediate psychological pressure that I’ve been operating under the last couple months, which is actually quite good and allowing me to enjoy the development process a little more.
So much has changed from the early days of my game dev career. I remember just how much it felt like an exercise in Sisyphean masochism. Whereas now, especially with the advent of AI tools, game dev, is still hard, but a joy, and it’s often the sheer volume of time that needs to be dedicated where the challenge is, not really the innate intellectual challenge of it.
I’m hoping 2026 will be an amazing year for me personally and Daemann Ltd.
Work continues, and once I release the initial demo, I think these dev logs – will be actual dev logs, not diary entries.
The reason I don’t share is I don’t feel comfortable the work yet reaches the quality that would show me in my best light – but with the advent of the demo – I will be more comfortable sharing the iterative process and seeing what comes with it.
peace & love 😀
