Managing Anxiety & Minimum Viable Product

I am spreading myself a little too thin. Being a solo-dev I have decided now is a good time to implement the MOSCOW principle, Must do, Should do, Could do, Won’t do.

I’ll be therefore focusing on the “main” civilization, the Nordvallan.

If I can get the base minimal viable product completed, it will relieve stress and free me up to flesh out the game further.

I simply have no way of knowing if my game will succeed, and I have to operate, in somewhat of a scarcity mindset, limited time, limited money, limited chance of success.

Therefore it’s all hands on deck, man the cannons! But I only have one pair of hands..

I really feel the weight of time closing in, before I know it, it will be October and the Steamfest again. I don’t therefore have much time to get the enormous amount of work I must get done, done.

Related to this is anxiety. Indie game-dev is a profession full of anxiety, and I find only a small amount of anxiety can be totally destructive to motivation, focus and the need to constantly be working.

It’s important to keep working, all work is good work, and I mustn’t let perfectionist thoughts derail me.
